Bonkers Is Off To London Again!

I have been off the radar for the past few days: on Monday I caught up with my accounts, on Tuesday a friend came over for a "consultation" and a play with my collection, then yesterday I made up the packages for the prize draw winners and a couple of other fumehead pals. And now it's Thursday already and I am off to London shortly to attend the talk by Pierre Guillaume of Parfumerie Générale at Les Senteurs.

I had hoped to write a blog post before I went away on the riveting subject of bubble wrap, in what is shaping up to be an occasional series on packaging materials used by swappers. Lindaloo happened to make reference to my original post on insulation tape in a comment the other day, so for anyone who missed it and who might conceivably find the subject of tape interesting, here it is again:

The Unsung Hero Of The Swap Scene - Electrical Insulation Tape

I can't wait to hear all about the Pierre Guillaume ... um, I mean the talk. ;) Enjoy!

Well, imagine my delight as I began to read this post and learned that there would be tales of Pierre Guillaume (and possibly pictures too?!), with another delightful report on the London Perfume Lovers group that will likely make me feel as if I were there.

And then, you promised a treatise on bubble wrap (which I'll definitely read), after which I stumbled upon my own name and had to run blushing for another application of Nanoblur. :-)

Hi,can't wait to read your account of the PG talk. I was there! I sometimes wish we could all wear name tags at these things so we can recognise each other. I was the one the gorgeous Pierre asked which was my favourite of his perfumes and I had to say I had not tried one yet - could there be any more shameful moment at a perfumeurs event??? I felt faintly fraudulent....but I was there to learn.

Hi Bloody Frida,

I had so much fun I have had a headache ever since from all the excitement, but as soon as it goes, I will get writing...

Hi Natalie,

You'll be glad to know I got a good snap of him at the end of the night, posing against a wall of PG bottles.

Oh and yes, the talk was good too!

Hi Lindaloo,

Yes, there will be some pictures too!

Then I umm-ed and aah-ed about whether to do the bubble wrap post first (as I indicated I would), or the PG report, and thought that on balance maybe the bubble wrap one can wait a bit longer... ; - )

Hi Bee,

I do remember you - sitting just to my left? And I recall PG asking you what memories you associate with your favourite PG scent and drawing a blank. : - ) It was the first bit of audience participation of the night and I couldn't help thinking: "Oops, this hasn't got off to a very auspicious start!", but some other people quickly jumped in with their memories instead, so it was all fine in the end.

And maybe you had a chance to try some of his perfumes afterwards? I don't like everything he has done by any means, but his scents are very distinctive all right.

Yes not a great start picking on me - but I think I can safely say it did not put him off his game! I had a great time and found some things I really liked. But for me, the best fragrance was Seville a l'aube - gorgeous! Thankyou for sharing that. Really looking forward to that coming out.

Hi Bee,

No indeed, it certainly didn't put him off his game!

I am glad you found some scents you liked - PG ones I take it?

Seville a L'Aube is gorgeous, isn't it? I should perhaps explain that PG mentioned this upcoming L'Artisan Parfumeur scent unprompted during his talk. As I happened to have a sample of it in my bag - and we were passing examples of every other scent around the room - it seemed appropriate to circulate my little atomiser of Seville a L'Aube at that point!
